Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the divisions in the EAYF? There are four different divisions (one flag and the remainder are tackle) in the EAYF broken down by age groups. The divisions and respective age groups are:

Flag (Ages 5-6), Minor Ages 7-8), Junior Varsity (9-10), & Varsity (11-12)

To particpate in each respective division players must reach each their respective age by July 31st, 2010.

What is the cost to register players? The cost to register a child is $30 for flag and $60 for tackle football. If registering multiple children a $5 discount per child is offered. The fee helps covers the cost for insurance and as well as football jerseys.

Are there any restrictions in each division? There are weight restricitons for running the football in each division. Those weight restrictions are reviewed each year. The purpose of this is to protect the children and also keep a competitive environment.

I would like my child to play up into another division. Can this be done? What is the process? If you would like your child to play up you can request this during signup. However the player must be evaluated during tryouts by coaches who have been involved in the league for a significant period of time. If your child is assessed that he has the potential to effectively participate they will be allowed to play up a division. However if he isn't approved you will be given the option to participate in flag football.

Can I become a member of the EAYF? Yes you can. We always need volunteers. During registraion parents can fill out a form to coach or to just be an assistant. A $5 fee is required for membership.

Does the EAYF record football games? Yes we do when a member of the commission has the time to do it. The proceeds of any DVD sales goes to the EAYF Jim Bell Scholarship fund.

Do you have an all star team for each division? Last year the EAYF institited all star teams that competed in the state championship in Owensboro Kentucky. If there is enough interest the league will continue to select players who desire to compete at a higher level.

Whatever happened to cheerleading in the EAYF? Unfortunately we no longer offer cheerleading in our program. Our numbers drastically dropped a couple of years ago with local gymnastics and cheerleading businesses opening. If interest was high enough we would always be open to the idea of starting it up again.
